It feels so good to vent online about neighborhood, City, County etc problems. But don’t just leave it at that — have you considered talking to your elected representatives? Don’t just post your neighborhood frustrations online, take it directly to those who are chosen to serve your interests at the city, county, state or federal level. As the saying goes, keep it local. Start the discussion at your local neighborhood association meeting. Lucky for you MacDowell Community Council helps make that possible for you. Your city and county reps want to hear from you face-to-face. Come do your part and come to our Second Saturday monthly meetings.

MacDowell Community Council’s monthly meeting is hosting Detroit’s “Blight Czarina”, Attorney Katrina Crawley, who joins us at our August community meeting.

Meet one of the city’s best known anti-blight sponsors. Attorney Crawley, known affectionately as the “Blight Czarina”, is the driving force behind the “Blight to Beauty” initiative in Detroit. As an accomplished attorney and community advocate, she helps lead this transformative initiative to combat urban decay and revitalize neglected neighborhoods. Through strategic partnerships with local organizations and city officials, Blight to Beauty empowers residents to reclaim abandoned properties and convert them into vibrant community spaces. Blending legal expertise with grassroots efforts, the initiative has not only revitalized areas once plagued by blight but also fostered a renewed sense of pride and unity among Detroit’s residents
